The Terminator War,[1], also known as the Machine War,[2] or The War against the Machines, is the future war that takes place after Judgment Day in Salvation timeline. It involved the human Resistance led by John Connor against the machines made by Skynet.
The War[]
Shortly after Uprising in Edwards and the following Judgment Day, the Resistance was founded from remnants of the world's military, whose surviving officers lead from USS Wilmington, the Resistance Headquarters, in the form of a leading council of Generals and Admirals, with General Hugh Ashdown as the leader.
John had gathered the Resistance by 2016 and form his branch known as Tech-Com. The Resistance was heavily outnumbered by the Skynet machines. Connor had doubts about winning the war. The information he learned from his mother and father were not of much use in this new future.[3]
By 2018, Skynet has deployed Aerostats to recon and surveillance, Hydrobots to patrol the waters, Harvesters and Mototerminators to capture humans, T-1 Terminators, T-4 Tanks, T-7T Spiders, T-70 Terminators, T-600 Walkers and Skin Jobs, HK-Tanks, and HK-Aerials to search and kill humans. Human piloted helicopters and A-10 close support aircraft indicates that Skynet has not established air supremacy over the Resistance. Skynet developed the T-RIP, the prototype T-800 Infiltrator, at around 2018 from stem-cell research done on humans.
The Resistance would soon discover the new creations of the T-800, when they attacked Skynet VLA, led by General Olsen and John, where all except John were killed. Afterwards, the Resistance discover from Command that they found a flaw in the communications protocols of the Hunter-Killers, allowing them to temporarily shut the machines down. This led to plans of a worldwide attack. Meanwhile, Marcus Wright, a deceased human on Death Row turned Terminator came online and got close with Kyle Reese and a kid named Star, who both got captured by Skynet forces later and sent to Skynet Central. Marcus soon called for help from the Resistance, but he was captured by them instead when they mistook him for an enemy. However, he managed to convince John that Kyle was in Skynet Central. John decided to let him go so he could lead Tech-Com there to rescue not only Kyle, but also the other human prisoners there. Just as John arrived to rescue Kyle and the human prisoners, he encountered the T-800 Terminator, activated for the first time. He also met Reese for the first time and rescued him and the human prisoners. However, John was nearly killed in the process. Skynet Central was destroyed by the Resistance, while Resistance Headquarters was destroyed by the machines along with General Ashdown and Command through their communications trap. However, Marcus gave his heart to rescue John's life. At a certain point after the event, John Connor took the command of whole Resistance.
