Official description of The Terminator #2 from Dynamite Entertainment:

Saigon, 1975 - The war is winding down, and American forces are in retreat. One G.I. is enjoying his final leave in South Vietnam's capital city when he is urgently recalled to the front. Back on the line, Private Duggan finds that his sector is being overrun by a mysterious enemy force - one that doesn't operate like any Viet Cong or NVA unit he's ever faced.

As rumors spread through the ranks about a "one-man Charlie platoon," Duggan and his squad suddenly come under murderous fire. Through the thick jungle air the trapped men spy their attacker - a lone figure, seemingly impervious to bullets and grenades, completely devoid of fear or hesitation. Implacable. Inescapable. Inhuman.

Author DECLAN SHALVEY (ThunderCats, Alien) and artist LUKE SPARROW (Star Trek) get down in the mud with the second issue of their hotly anticipated new Terminator series, opening a groundbreaking new front in the War Against the Machines and featuring bulletproof covers from SHALVEY, EDWIN GALMON, DREW MOSS, and DAVID COUSENS!

Plot summary for "Apocalypse Then: Part One"[]

1976. Saigon, Vietnam. Two American Marines, Edward Duggan and Hernandez, discuss the state of the war: according to rumors, the North Vietnamese Army is closing in. When Duggan teases Hernandez about Vietnamese women, Hernandez replies that he’s married. Duggan surprises his buddy by casually responding that he is too.

On the outskirts of a Vietnamese village, a naked man emerges from a time sphere. The Terminator scans its surroundings but is suddenly confronted by a Vietnamese soldier, who buries an axe in its head. Unfazed, the Terminator kills the soldier with the same axe, then steals his uniform and straw hat.

Back at the American embassy in Saigon, Duggan receives word that the Americans are evacuating the city. He rushes out of the office, with Hernandez yelling after him, threatening to report him as AWOL. Duggan shouts back that he can’t leave Vietnam without retrieving a very special treasure he hid during his tour. He pleads with Hernandez to give him time before reporting him.

Meanwhile, the Terminator slaughters a squad of North Vietnamese soldiers and seizes their weapons. It then punches a Soviet SPAAG tank off its tracks. As a second tank approaches, the Terminator rips the tracks off the first tank and hurls them like a projectile, destroying the oncoming vehicle.

In a small city 25 kilometers northeast of Saigon, Duggan rides a military bike to a small apartment, only to find it abandoned. An acquaintance of his, Phan, is shocked to see him, warning that the Communists are closing in. He hurriedly gives Duggan directions to a nearby French airstrip, urging him to retrieve his treasure before it’s too late.

On his way, Duggan suddenly encounters the now-damaged Terminator in the middle of another firefight. The machine immediately identifies him as its primary target. Believing he’s stumbled upon a secret Communist weapon, Duggan attempts to flee, but the Terminator shoots his bike down. As Duggan struggles to recover, the machine approaches, raising its weapon to finish the job.
