Tense Past is a scenario for the The Terminator RPG written by Richard August. It is one of the fifteen curated scenarios included in The Terminator RPG Campaign Book.

Publisher Summary[]

A scenario inspired by the Graphic Novel: The Terminator: 1984.

This post-Judgment Day mission, circa 1980s, is designed for 3-6 players.

Mission Briefing: The PCs have searched for Sarah Connor, stayed one step ahead of the law and Skynet, and reunited her with Kyle Reese. Maybe they've even faced down Terminators and crippled Skynet for months or even years, across a variety of time periods. And now...the PCs are safe. Kyle Reese is safe. Sarah Connor is safe, and, as a result of all their efforts, John Connor is safe, too. Or are they?

Plot summary[]

After reuniting Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor, the group has settled into a peaceful life in the Mexican desert. However, their tranquility is interrupted when they spot a T-800 disguised as a sanitation worker approaching their home, signaling the beginning of the end.

Notes[]

  • This is the final scenario in the campaign. The Director may present two or three Player Characters with the opportunity to go out in a spectacular manner, taking this last Terminator down with them. It's possible that Kyle could join them, sacrificing himself alongside his friends to ensure that Sarah and John can escape to safety.
  • Some brief advice is offered on how to turn this epilogue into the beginning of an ongoing campaign, as the PCs work with Sarah to build Resistance cells while dealing with new Terminators.
