The Tempest timeline is the timeline featured in the Dark Horse Comics series The Terminator: Tempest and its sequels.
Avant notes[]
- Originally, the Tempest series and its sequels were set in the 1990s. However, in the letter column of Endgame #1, the editors acknowledged an error and subsequently retconned the entire series' timeline. This timeline reflects the events as depicted following that retcon.
- The events of The Terminator: One Shot are included in this timeline as there are indications that they were meant to be connected. The TDE in this comic, for example, is identical to the one seen in Tempest.
Tempest timeline[]
1955
- Ellis Ruggles arrives from 2029 with orders to become a deep cover operative.[1]
1965
- Corporal Graves arrives from the future. He materializes in the middle of a freeway and is immediately killed by a truck.[1]
1969
- Bertram Hollister begins working in microelectronics research.[2]
1984
- April 30th: Gallery owner Sarah Lang marries Michael Connor, changing her name to Sarah Connor and moving to San Francisco. Secretly, Sarah and her lover are planning to kill Michael for his inheritance.[3]
- May 12th: Two T-800s arrive from the future to kill the four women named "Sarah Connor." Kyle Reese also arrives from the future to protect Sarah. The second Terminator kills the first two targets[2] while the first unit heads to San Francisco looking for Sarah Lang.[3]
- The first killer is terminated by Ellis Ruggles, who also loses his life in the process. The machine still manages to kill Sarah Lang before deactivating, inadvertently saving her husband's life.[3]
- In Los Angeles, Kyle is killed but Sarah destroys the second Terminator. Kyle's legacy lives on in Sarah and their unborn child.[2]
- The police ask Bertram Hollister to examine the T-800's wreckage.[2]
- Mary Randall's team is transported back in time. Three T-800 units, along with the hybrid I825.M, arrive after them.[2] A fourth unit, Z000.M, materializes in the wrong location, 354 miles off the California coastline, and sinks underwater.[4]
- Mary Randall makes contact with Cyberdyne Systems employee Ed Astin and forces him to take her and her team to Bertram Hollister's house. The Terminator squad arrives in time and successfully protects Hollister.[2]
- At Hollister's request, the Terminators steal the wreckage of the first T-800 from the police headquarters. Meanwhile, they track Astin to the safehouse of Randall's team and massacre them.[2]
- Randall, Astin, and the other only survivor from the team, Bart Lukens, arrive on the warehouse where Hollister and the Terminators have the endoskeleton's wreckage. The hybrid I825.M switches sides and destroys the endoskeleton just before LAPD agents arrive. In the ensuing chase, Lukens is killed.[2]
- Weeks later, Bertram Hollister receives a package containing a T-800 skull.[2]
- Nineteen days after its encounter with Randall, C890.L, the last surviving Terminator, starts a violent shootout in central Los Angeles, resulting in the deaths of numerous LAPD agents and allowing it to rearm itself. Among the few survivors is Detective Mark Sloane. C890.L then contacts the resurfaced Z000.M and begins heading towards its secondary objective: Sarah Connor.[4]
- Randall and I825.M, who starts using the human name Dudley, steal a plane and head to Mexico to protect Sarah Connor. Aware that the Terminators will be tracking Dudley, they set up a trap in Mexico City and disable the Terminator using a basic electric weapon. Dudley reprograms C890.L and leaves him waiting for Z000.M. C890.L successfully destroys the other Terminator but sustains heavy damage in the process.[4]
- Ten days later, Randall and Dudley meet up with Astin and drive to Sarah Connor's desert hideout, finding it empty.[4]
- Randall, Dudley, and Astin return to Pasadena. Concerned that his machine half is taking control, Dudley asks Astin to perform an operation on him. However, Astin betrays his colleagues, abandoning Dudley to die while he escapes with a copy of the Terminator schematics extracted from Dudley's brain.[5]
- Four more Resistance soldiers, led by Captain Emmer, arrive from 2029, materializing in the Los Angeles Zoo.[5]
- A reconstructed C890.L returns to the United States, leaving a trail of deaths in its wake.[5]
- Randall and a recovered Dudley track Astin to a Cyberdyne factory in Ellison Valley, where he intends to sell the schematics to Hollister. Both Sloane and the second Resistance team converge there. The Resistance soldiers kill both Astin and Hollister, but are killed in turn by a returning C890.L. In the end, Randall finally terminates C890.L, but Dudley vanishes from the scene.[5]
- July: Sloane ties up the last loose end by killing his FBI contact, Lockhurst, who had the Terminator schematics and C890.L's remnants. Randall and Sloane part ways.[6]
- October 1st: A new Terminator arrives on Canada and starts heading towards Texas.[6]
- October 3rd: Dudley makes contact with Randall, who is now working as a gardener. They meet in San Diego, where Randall helps Dudley break free from his machine half's control. Dudley informs Randall that a new Terminator, coming from an altered future, will attempt to kill Sarah Connor and her newborn child. Dudley then takes his own life by blowing up his safehouse. Afterward, Randall reaches out to Sloane, and together they head to Odessa, where Sarah is about to give birth.[6]
- October 4th: Randall and Sloane delete all data about Sarah Connor from the hospital's computer and protect her from the Terminator. The Terminator is erased from the timeline. Jane Connor is born.
Mary's Future[]
1993
- Project Bellerophon perfects artificial intelligence.[2]
2009
- Skynet attacks mankind. Dudley, a Mont Sinai Hospital intern, joins the Resistance but ends up becoming Skynet's first prisoner of war. Dudley is reconstructed into a hybrid and put to work as Series 800 maintenance.[2]
2026
- Lieutenant Koufaks stars serving Recon/Security under John Connor.[2]
2029
- The Final Offensive happens. Skynet's master control is destroyed. Two T-800s, one female[3] and one male, are sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor. In response, John Connor sends three soldiers (Reese, Ruggles, and Graves) back in time before blowing up the time machine. Skynet's attempt to use the prototype Time Displacement Chamber to change history apparently fails.[2]
- Three months after the Final Offensive, Colonel Mary Randall's team assaults a Time Displacement complex in Ellison Valley[5], Los Angeles. The team of five proceeds to jump back in time. Lieutenant Koufaks, who was left behind with the task of blowing up the facility, fails in his mission.[2]
- The hybrid I825.M activates three Terminator units from the incubation chambers. The hybrid and the machines follows Randall's team into the past.[2]
- Two days later, a fourth Terminator, Z000.M, is activated and sent as reinforcement.[4]
- Some time later, Captain Emmer's backup team checks on the facility. Believing that Randall has failed, they travel back in time to 1984 and blow the place up.[5]
The Machine's Future[]
2029
- In this future, the War Against The Machines is more contained, meaning that data regarding John Connor's birth in Odessa, Texas survives the war.[6]
- Hours before the Final Offensive, a single Terminator is sent to late 1984 to kill John Connor during his birth.[6]
Jane Connor's Future[]
2029
- In this future, Jane Connor's Resistance launches the Final Offensive hours earlier that in other timelines, destroying Skynet before it has any chance to send Terminators back in time.[6]
