Images for Novel Characters[]

Ok, the movies are easy, so are the comics, but what about the novels? I'm looking for the consensus on scrounging for suitable pics to place with Novel characters on their character pages. For example, the 1-7 terminators past-built, are all basic variants of the Model 101, but I'd rather not re-use Terminator-verse Movie references (again) when others might be more suitable. For example, Third could get a shot of Arnie pulled from Twins, in the Hawaiian shirt True Lies for Seven (Tasker) and Watcher/8 (The hairy Terrorist Limo driver), something from Running Man, Last Action Hero, Red Heat, Total Recall, or The Sixth Day and more for a few others, just to offer a changeup. The Mowhawk for Five would be more challenging, but I know a few 3D artists with render software, doing a headshot mockup with some commercial "sketch artist/CSI" software would not be untowards either.....Thoughts?Fulongamer 20:45, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Side Note, Tasker (True Lies) was a spy working for (dum-dum-dum) Omega Sector, with a passing resemblence to van Rossbach....who worked for Sector 8) Fulongamer 20:55, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
I love the creativity here! But I'm not too keen on using non-source images... feels like we'd be crossing a line? --Kanamekun 22:52, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Since there's been no outcry over the image used on the Dieter von Rossbach page, this seems to still be a good idea. I'll see what I can do to scrounge up some suitable images (really, technically anything with Arnold in it should count as a valid source) and try them out.Fulongamer 05:21, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Well, Serena Burns (the I-950), is described very much like the T-X (Kristanna Loken). In fact, the T-X was based upon that character, so I don't see anything wrong with precuring an image of Loken to represent her. Perhaps an image of the T-X in the CRS uniform would suffice for Serena. Darth Raivon 14:51, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

a Loken pic may indeed be useful, but I don't recall Serena ever wearing Class-B's as the T-X did while infiltrating CRS. Perhaps something from Painkiller Jane? Additionally, with the a villianess "Serena" cast in T4 to be played by Helena Bonham Carter, we may end up with a number of potential faces, as with John and Sarah Connor if this turns out to be a film version of the Serena Burns/I-950 character concept.Fulongamer 01:23, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
So, what do you think of the trial images so far? I've been able to pull up pics for Lisa, Serena, Clea (before and after, but I really need a Loken brunette with glasses!), Teen Alissa (need a spooky 6 or 8 year old though too), Two and Third. Thoughts?Fulongamer 15:35, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
I think the captions should explain though why these images were used. It's a unique idea, but it can confuse readers. Alientraveller 15:49, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
I am hoping that between the captions (in article), the Image descriptions themselves, and the article texts they are associated with, they are rather self explanatory. The images were chosen carefully as the closest matches to the descriptions found in the source material Novels. Where applicable, in the Image name or description itself the "original" provenence of all "out-verse" pics like those from Painkiller Jane, End of Days, or Collateral Damage are appropriately credited. For Example, Rachel Weisz (from Defintely, Maybe) is the closest match to Clea's described complete disguise, and the first non-T-verse actor (if not character) I've used to try this project with, I think it works.Fulongamer 16:20, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

I think it's a brilliant idea, so long as the images that are chosen do not carry obvious links to other films outside the terminator universe. The ones chosen so far are good. Darth Raivon 23:35, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Might I make one request though; could you please keep the pages tidy and make some of the images smaller where necessary. At the moment they are all in a bit of a mess. Anyway, keep up the good work. Darth Raivon 23:43, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

I'll try. If you can itemize the suggested alterations for images where needed in the discussion pages of the articles where they are used.
Strangely, I get differences between one computer and another when viewing the pages, slight shifts in image locations and such, that makes "formatting" the page hard to guarantee. I think it is a combination of differences in IE and Windows (and network rules) between my home and work terminals, heck, even between being logged in and not! It also makes some images appear in one "thumb = px" resolution but not in others. I'm also getting "Gallery" displays that have certain images "missing" on the surface but are visible when in "preview" mode. makes it hard to edit sometimes. I am also trying to follow the examples from the TSSC articles with multiple images to let the page flow more naturally and avoid gaping "dead space" holes around the images. Glad the choices and appliaction so far are meeting approval!Fulongamer 03:11, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Are people interested in having a consolidated gallery-style character navigation aid for the novel characters we identify appropriate images for (beyond the existing character/terminator/resistance portals)? Should such a gallery be on each book's main or talk page, or should we generate a portal page for novels (by book, by series/trilogy)? (and yes, some form of Image Disclaimer would be included)Fulongamer 08:41, 12 September 2008 (UTC)
