Merging or not[]

Earlier made a proposal of merging the Series 850-page and Series 888 into Series 800, but I was redirected to this discussion below. Is there any conclusion of what we do? Ascaaear 13:04, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Conceptually, I see the connection. From a practical perspective though, the articles seem to cover a lot of different material? Would be curious to see how a merge would work - maybe it's worth trying a merge first as a sub-page to your User page? --Kanamekun 13:40, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
As I see it, it should be divided in four pages. The Series 800 which contain information about the T-800, T-850 and T-888 as Terminators in general. Then the last three pages about T-800, T-850 and T-888 which are about the Terminator which appear in movies and the tv-series.
I can try do something on my personal page, and show it later!

I saw somewhere, someone referred to this as the T-8xx series. I like that - it's sort of like the Intel x86 designation. I had always disliked having the T-800 series article refer to the T-800 *and* the 850 and 888; this way, it would at least be clear that the T-800 was a subset of the T-8xx line. Just a thought... --Kanamekun 17:40, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Not a bad idea. It's a good point to at least emphasize that there is a T-800-model too. On the other hand, it's not used officially, so it's little weird and unusual for me to use it. Any other thoughts? Anyone have a reason to NOT use it? Ascaaear 17:08, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Merge?[]

Is it possible to merge this page with Series 1000? It might be confusing having two separate pages. -- Danny (talk) 02:14, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

I think this page should be about the specific T-1000 seen in the movie, while the other one should be more about the model in general (I would assume "series" refers to "model"). --Dragonclaws(talk) 04:07, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I think the reason why there's two is because the other Terminators each get two pages since there's a lot of evidence that several model series have been produced and appeared in various stories. I assume that's why we ended up with a Terminator models category and a Terminator characters category. —Scott (talk) 04:48, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I think it would be easy to have all of that information on one page, as separate sections. Right now, if you search for "T-1000" you get the Series 1000 page. I'm not sure that's what people would expect when they search for T-1000, or link to it. -- Danny (talk) 04:59, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
It looks like Colby started the pages this way. I'd like to hear his thoughts. —Scott (talk) 05:18, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I think it would at least make more sense to make the T-1000 redirect default to the character (it's his only name) rather than the model information. Danny does have a point about what the casual viewer expects when they search for T-1000. Leave the model info separate if desired for organization and have the link from the character page. Just my 2cents. -- Wendy (talk) 05:47, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I'd be fine with different names for the articles, but I definitely think they need to stay as two articles. Making this T-1000 and moving the other to T-1000 Series or something would be fine. (We should probably also get a "You may..." tag going here to help clear things like this up.) -- Ozzel 07:52, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
...and I just realized the other one was already moved. We can move this one then. -- Ozzel 07:53, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
My impression is that T-100, T-200, T-300 (which are increased by 100) counts as a model Series. The only exception would be T-70 and T-X which also are a series. When we talk about T-850 and T-888 I consider it only as a upgrade and are build on the first T-800. The articles on "T-850" and "T-888" should be about the specific appearance of the model in the movies, novels, games and so. Does any one agree or disagree? On the article of "Series T-800" it is already started to mention the upgraded models.
What about Cromartie? Should this article redirect to "T-888" or other vice? Ascaaear 14:44, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

T-1000/Series 1000[]

How about This article is about the individual known as the T-1000, for the Series of Terminators, see Series 1000. On the Series 1000 page, it would read "For the individual Terminator, see T-1000". Here's an example from Wookieepedia---CadmiumX99 05:50, July 30, 2010 (UTC)

Re-Redirected "T-1000" to this article. It's the name of the character and the article someone might expect to find; there's also a link to Series 1000 in the first sentence. Seriously, is there any reason we can't just name this article simply "T-1000" and retain the "Series 1000" article to describe Skynet's liquid metal Terminators in general? Is it a 'page move' issue?---CadmiumX99 06:17, July 30, 2010 (UTC)

Despite being credited as "T-1000", the term "T-1000" can either be the "Series 1000 Terminator" or any single T-1000 unit, such as the T2 guy or the T23D guy, and not to mention those in the Cybernetic Dawn. --TX55TALK 08:29, July 30, 2010 (UTC)

Chances are, anyone looking for the "T-1000" is looking for the Robert Patrick character first. If that's not specific enough, then how about a more "in-universe" designation like "T-1000 (individual)" or "T-1000 (prototype)". I think the "You may be looking..." for tag is a good idea. For further clarification, we could include links to the other T-1000's under a "Series 1000 Terminators" heading within the article.----CadmiumX99 19:42, July 30, 2010 (UTC)
In that case, that would be using the Disambiguation templates. By far we have four disambig templates for normal pages. The case you mention is much like the disambig2. As for the tag, I think using fiction titles will be good. :) --TX55TALK 01:28, July 31, 2010 (UTC)

Moved from User talk:TX55

I think you're wrong about this one. Robert Patrick's T-1000 is the most widely known of all the liquid metal Terminators and serves as an introduction into the larger Terminator universe. (Think of him as an ambassador!) I feel it makes perfect sense that the T2 T-1000 is what would come up first in a search for "T-1000". Currently you have it like this:

  • 1)User searches for "T-1000"
  • 2)User is directed to the "Series 1000" article, which includes links to articles about individual T-1000s, including the T-2 T-1000.
  • 3)Clicking on the link, user is directed to the "T-1000" character article, which also provides links to other T-1000s the user might be interested in, including the 1000 Series in general.

When it might be more efficient and less confusing to do this:

  • 1)User searches for "T-1000"
  • 2)User is directed to the "T-1000" character article, which provides links to other T-1000s the user might be interested in, including the 1000 Series in general.

Any confusion with other T-1000s (which I feel is possible, but not very likely) is easily fixed with a disambig or "You may be looking for..." tag. All of this was discussed way before you and I got here Talk:T-1000 (T2)#Merge?. I thought that Dragonclaws, Danny, Ozzel, and Wendy reached a reasonable consensus.---CadmiumX99 20:39, August 3, 2010 (UTC)

So in short, you suggest we should redirect the title into the page which is referred for most of the time. I'm okay with that since it's been use on several site such as Wikipedia. :D --TX55TALK 02:37, August 4, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, for the most part, with some exceptions (For instance, there's no "T-888" character, so redirecting to the "Series 888" page makes sense to me). In this case, however, this is the iconic character that all other liquid metal Terminators are based on. If someone searches for "T-1000" I think it's logical to start with him.----CadmiumX99 14:25, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

gender pronouns[]

there seems to be an awful lot of inconsistent mixing of gender neutral pronouns with male pronouns in this article. could we perhaps stick with gender neutral 'it' for the article, seeing as it is a shapeshifter? Spaceandy (talk) 23:32, July 31, 2015 (UTC)

Aye.
Most of time, we use "it" for antagonist. As for protagonist, depends. --TX55TALK 09:17, August 1, 2015 (UTC)
