John Henry's naming[]

I think the reference is unnecessary. In the same episode, Catherine Weaver specifically states that Dr. Sherman named the AI "John Henry" after his favorite folk hero. On a side note, I wonder if John Henry will be allowed to leave the building at some point. If he does, and the Connors see him, he's screwed. It sucks that Cromartie is gone though. I'll miss his witty banter. I hope the show doesn't become a "terminator of the week" type show. -sec_1971 15:12, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Maybe add a Quotes section, where we cite exactly what Catherine said about him? Then we could also expand the reference...
Good point - without Cromartie, who is the bad guy that's gonna provide all the action? Maybe Sarah will just find random guys connected to the origins of Skynet to beat the crap out of! --Kanamekun 15:55, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

There you go again with the "beat the crap out of" reference :) Yeah, the show just won't be the same without him. There is supposed to be a new terminator in 211 isn't there? Sent to the wrong time? I wonder how that'll go. I think they should have a terminator appear during an electrical storm that gets struck by lightning as the TDF opens. It zaps his memory and he forgets his mission, and just wanders around.

Something like that. That'd be sweet.-sec_1971 16:25, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Hacked[]

I think that assuming that the unknown AI is skynet is jumping the gun a bit. For all we know, it could be EMMA (assuming Xander finally found a suitable piece of hardware to run it). It could be any number of AIs that, when combined with John Henry, would become Skynet. John Henry mentioned that the two were "brothers"; meaning they may have been created by the same person--Andy Goode. So this AI may be "The Turk I". The hardware for The Turk I was destroyed by Sarah Connor, but the AI itself--the software--may still exist somewhere in cyberspace. Thus, the two AIs--being brothers--could combine somehow to become "something more advanced than any human has ever created". That phrase does not necessarily mean that it wasn't created by a human.

Put it this way: An Intel Quad Core CPU is definitely more advanced than anything ever created by a human; but it was created by a human. I hope that didn't sound confusing. I would suggest leaving that link to Skynet open until we know for sure.

"Leave open" like removing the link to Skynet? I agree. -Wikicide 20:13, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Exactly. At least until we know for sure what the other AI is. -Sec_1971 22:26, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

How[]

does he travel to the future? He left all his hardware behind and so technically only Cromartie's endoskeleton traveled without any AI inside it, right? By the way, how does he carry Cameron's chip? Would it be destroyed if he put her chip inside his mouth? Sandubadear (talk) 22:50, October 2, 2015 (UTC)

  • He downloaded himself into Cameron's chip and inserted the chip into the interface slot. - Nx1701g (talk) 00:46, October 3, 2015 (UTC)

Further symbolism[]

As John Henry seems to be a balance vs Skynet (and be good) and there is a lot of biblical references (the whole series really, but e.g. "Adam raised a Cain" specifically about JH trying to figure out his role, which brother he "is" and Weaver saying "Maybe you're neither. Maybe you're God") wouldn't it be possible that JH is a Messiah figure/Jesus reference? Stemming from a higher power (God/Skynet), dying and resurrecting to save us?
