The Sea Scorpion was a Chinese Autonomous Patrol Munition that Skynet upgraded to bolster its naval forces during its post-millennial campaigns.[1]
Specification[]
Looking like a small catamaran, the Sea Scorpion originally featured a torpedo launcher positioned above the waterline. Later iterations, particularly those focused on river operations, enhanced the weaponry by adding a light machine gun and a laser designator. It could recharge using both solar and wave power, allowing it to stay operational without needing to return to port, except for reloading its ammo. Known to be one of the least intelligent of Skynet's machines, the Sea Scorpion had a notorious tendency to fire torpedoes at whales, sharks, and sometimes even kelp beds.[1]
Mission Profile[]
Initially, the Sea Scorpion functioned mostly as a high-tech sea mine, requiring specific radio codes to prevent it from attacking friendly vessels. After a minor upgrade to its sensors and processing capabilities, Skynet transformed it into a more effective Hunter-Killer. With a sensory range of up to a kilometer, Sea Scorpions were strategically positioned in triangular formations near port entrances and abundant fish stocks, allowing them to engage survivors in search of food and resources.[1]
While the Sea Scorpion excelled in its oceanic role, it also proved invaluable as a forward scout and squad support weapon in river patrols. When integrated into a squad, it was common for the Sea Scorpions to take up rear guard positions, using their speed to quickly maneuver alongside heavier T-500 units when necessary.[1]
Notes[]
- Given both its description and that The Terminator RPG: Resist! describes post-millennial machines as the forerunners to 2020s Hunter-Killers, it's possible that the Sea Scorpion is meant to be a forerunner to the HK-Hydrofoil.
