The Westinghouse M-25 40-watt Phased Plasma Pulse-Gun[1] (WM-25),[2] or Phased Plasma Rifle,[3] is a Plasma rifle used by Skynet's forces in the Future War. It has a bullpup configuration and is in the 40 watt range with a laser sight.

History[]
During the Future War, most of the T-800 Endoskeletons, main infantry force of Skynet, carried two M-25 Phased Plasma Rifles during battles.[5][6][7][8] Resistance soldiers also used captured M-25s to fight against the Machines.[9]
Unaware that the weapon had not been invented, the Terminator went to a gun shop in 1984 Los Angeles and requested a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range. The Terminator
After taking young John Connor to the Future War, the T-800 Infiltrator acquired an M-25 from a T-800 Endoskeleton after it decapitated the Endoskeleton with the wreckage of a Mini Hunter. T2 3-D: Battle Across Time
Notes[]
- In the novelization of The Terminator by Randall Frakes, the M-25 is referred to as Kyle Reese's Pulse Rifle during the Future War, while the Terminator's weapon is called a Phased plasma pulse laser. However, Kyle's weapon can be attached with a CRT scope, while the T-800's rifle is not seen with one yet. It is possibly the two are different weapons, or the weapon was redesigned during the production of the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Additionally, there is an M-25 Plasma Pulse Rifle in the novel Terminator Hunt.
- In the novel T2: The Future War, the weapon has a trademark on the side, "Cyberdyne Systems Phased Plasma Rifle, 40MGWT Range". Note that in most of the timelines, the power of the weapon is labelled 40-watt, which represents very low power.[10][11] 40 watts of power would take over a minute to boil a single gram of water from room temperature, whereas a directed energy weapon intended for anti-personnel purposes would need to impart thousands of times that power to its target.
- The weapon Phased-plasma pulse rifle is referenced in the film Aliens by Private Hudson, played by Bill Paxton. (See also: Pulse Rifle)
- In the video game Terminator 3: War of the Machines, the weapon is referred to as the Plasma Rifle with Grenade Launcher.
- The M27 and M29 from Terminator 3: The Redemption as well as R95 and V96 from Terminator: Resistance share a similar design with the M25.
Behind the Scene[]
- The M-25 is referred as the "Endo" Battle Rifle in design sheets for Terminator 2: Judgment Day.[12][13]
- The M-25 was built on the Calico M960 (Liberty 100 variant) 9mm submachine gun.
- The M-25 is used as the light gun for the arcade game Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
