An HK-003
The HK-003 Canine Attack Robot, also known as "Hell Hound," was an early Hunter-Killer deployed by Skynet in the European theater a few years after Judgment Day.[1]

The HK-003 Hell Hound was a dog-shaped pentapod with four legs and a retractable manipulator arm capable of opening doors and operating keyboard terminals. It could navigate small tunnels, resist most firearms, and use its hydraulic jaws to dispatch assailants quickly. Later models would receive improved AI, similar to that used by the first humanoid Hunter-Killers.[1]
The HK-003 was armed with a head-mounted flamethrower designed to force bunker occupants to seek air by burning available oxygen. To mitigate the risk of leaving behind assets useful for the Resistance, Skynet also added a self-destruct system that could be activated when the unit became trapped or unable to receive commands. Its self-destruct mechanism rendered it a "fire-and-forget" asset, ideal for risk-free testing within the fragmented European theater.[1]

Skynet would often deploy HK-003 alongside Terminator squads. It was primarily designed as an anti-bunker weapon.[1]
History[]
The Canine Attack Robot was a pre-Judgment Day design rooted in real-world operational experiences in Afghanistan and Vietnam, inspired by the German Shepherd and intended for anti-guerrilla and antiterrorist operations. Upon uncovering the design in Bonn, Skynet became interested in bolstering its scarce ground forces in the European theater by incorporating an enhanced version of this canine unit. Skynet soon turned the massive and heavily armed HK-IX prototype into a lighter and swifter unit: the HK-003.[1]
The HK-003 was often deployed into the labyrinthine Catacombs of Paris alongside squads of Terminators in a futile attempt to locate and kill the Parisian Resistance. The remnants of dismantled Hell Hounds and the rusted wreckage of other Skynet's soldiers often found their way back to the Barrière d'Enfer, the catacombs' main gate.[1]
