Turret

A Turret is a platform from which weapons can be fired that affords protection, visibility and some cone of fire. It is generally a rotatable weapon mount that houses the crew or mechanism of a projectile-firing weapon and at the same time lets the weapon be aimed and fired in some degree of azimuth and elevation (cone of fire).

Turrets in Various Timelines[]

Skynet usually installs turrets in major facilities as defense grid, such as Defense Turret installation outside Skynet Complex at Cheyenne Mountain.^[1]^[2] However, some turrets can be overridden by Resistance in some case, such as taking over control center.^[2] Some turrets are equipped with plasma weaponry. In Resistance timeline, there are two types of Plasma Turret: one with red plasma cell, the other with violet plasma cell.

In Rise of the Machines timeline, Skynet manufactured the F/K Turret, an immobile Skynet gun battery placed to guard area or create kill-zones. Additionally, there is F/K Sentry Gun, a smaller version of F/K Turret used to guard interiors of Skynet facilities.^[3]

In Salvation timeline, major Skynet facilities, such as Skynet VLA and Skynet Central, are installed with Gun Turrets^[4] and anti-aircraft turrets.^[5] There at least two variations as those installed in Skynet VLA are equipped with 4 "arms" (guns), while the one in Skynet Central is only equipped with 2 "arms".

The Terminator: Dawn of Fate[]

During the Colorado Offensive, Resistance convoys were attacked by Defense Turrets installed outside the NORAD complex at Cheyenne Mountain. Captain Justin Perry was manage to take them out.

After entering the complex from different route, Lieutenant Catherine Luna's unit was under heavy attack and trapped by T-800 Endoskeletons. Luna suggested Perry should go to the operation room in the Skynet Rear Defense Grid and override the Defense Turrets. Perry then successfully provided firepower to Luna's unit, destroying all the incoming Endoskeletons. The Terminator: Dawn of Fate

Terminator Salvation[]

During the Attack on Skynet VLA, a turret tried to take down a cruise missile fired upon the Skynet VLA by the Resistance. It failed as the missile hit the ground. Afterwards, Resistance A-10 attackers engaged with turrets installed there. One of the A-10 attackers was shot down by a turret.

Later, when Marcus Wright tried to infiltrate Skynet Central, he stood in front of a gun turret. The turret scanned Marcus and identified him before granting his entrance. Marcus then went to the control room to disable the North Gun Turret for John Connor and his Tech-Com unit to enter the parameter to attack Skynet Central and rescue human survivors.
