Elena is a persona the MIR network uses to manipulate the survivors of Judgment Day in Russia.
History[]
Elena is a carefully crafted persona created by the AI node known as MIR-Nur-Sultan. Recognizing the diverse makeup of the resistance—which included post-Soviet armed forces, nomadic Baltic refugees, Mujahideen veterans, and American assets—the AI understood that these groups would never accept a machine as their benevolent leader. Thus, MIR-Nur-Sultan created the alias "Elena," a name statistically common in Kazakhstan, to serve as an encouraging and relatable figure who could direct the resistance's ire toward Skynet and inspire hope for the future.[1]
Early interactions[]
Elena's first interactions with the resistance were simple yet effective. During a pilot test, MIR-Nur-Sultan used a short-range radio signal to contact a small squad of commandos. "Elena" informed them about a bunker near Lake Tengiz, claiming she had documents but couldn't reach it herself. The team, driven by desperation, found the bunker containing food and a water filtration system. This initial success solidified Elena's credibility and value.[1]
Spetsnaz's angel[]
Over the next year, Elena gathered more elements of humanity. Then, MIR discovered that the Russian Army had not been completely destroyed and that a new force, Spetsnaz, was operating from hidden encampments in Kazakhstan. Seizing this opportunity, "Elena" began regular contact with the commandos, providing accurate yet discreet intelligence. This information was always precise enough to be helpful but vague enough to protect her supposed location. Elena's role expanded as she worked in tandem with MIR-Moscow, directing Spetsnaz forces and guiding the commandos into alliances with other survivors. Her influence grew, fostering unity and bolstering the resistance's efforts against Skynet.[1]
Elena became the revered voice of the resistance for the Spetsnaz, regarded almost as a protective saint by its members. Though shrouded in mystery, her existence served as a beacon of hope and guidance. Amongst Spetsnaz units, a familiar farewell was, "I hope Elena is watching." Any suggestion that Elena might be anything other than a helpful survivor or that she may not still be alive would be met with hostility. The Terminator RPG: Resist!
