The Assassination of John Connor refers to the attempted assassination by a T-1000 on John Connor in 1995 (or 1997 in the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles). It was sent from 2029. A reprogrammed T-800 was sent by John Connor to protect his past self.

The Battle[]

The T-800 arrived in Los Angeles at dawn on June 8, where it encountered a group of bikers in a bar. He steals the clothing and motorcycle of one of them and the sunglasses and shotgun of another. The T-1000 arrived shortly after and killed police officer, taking his sidearm and replicating his uniform. In the later morning, it went to John Connor's foster home to look for him, before tracking him to a shopping mall, the Galleria. However, the T-800, on his motorcycle, spots John Connor and his friend, Timothy, on their way to the mall.

While John is amusing himself at the arcade, his friend, Timothy, gets confronted by the T-1000, who is looking for John. Timothy covers for his friend, before warning John to flee. John flees through a set of double doors into an area reserved for employees, where the T-800 and T-1000 confront each other. The T-800 shields John Connor from his assassin, and engages in a shootout and a hand-to-hand combat with it, allowing John enough time to escape.

The T-1000 manages to win the fight, and proceeds to continue pursuing John. John flees on his dirt bike, and the T-1000 steals a large tow truck to chase him. The T-800 recovers and joins the chase, eventually catching up to John and saving him just as the boy was about to be run over by the tow truck. The T-800 fires two more shots at the tow truck with his shotgun, before the tow truck crashes into a tunnel divider, and ignites in flames.

Following this, John and the Terminator go to the Pescadero State Hospital to help free John's mother, Sarah Connor. The T-1000 also went to the Pescadero to kill Sarah Connor, disguising itself as a security guard initially. However, the trio of protagonists narrowly manage to flee to an abandoned garage. There, Sarah attempts to destroy the T-800 by smashing its computer chip with a hammer, but John stopped her, as he knew that it was needed.

After finding out from the T-800 that the man most directly responsible for Judgement Day is Miles Dyson, Sarah Connor packs two guns (a Colt 653 carbine and a 1911 pistol) and drives to his home in hopes of assassinating him. However, she is unable to bring herself to do so, before her son arrives, along with the T-800. The Terminator informs the Dysons about the coming Judgement day, and they destroy the Cyberdyne Systems building (See Termination of Skynet (2nd attempt)), and temporarily prevent Skynet from being created, thereby preventing Judgment Day from happening on its original date of August 29, 1997.

Upon hearing from its police radio that the Connors and the T-800 were at Cyberdyne, the T-1000 goes there to pursue its targets. However, the trio manages to escape in a police van, and the T-1000 steals a police helicopter to chase them. It chases them to a steel mill in a liquid nitrogen truck, and was temporarily frozen and shattered by liquid nitrogen and a gunshot from the T-800, respectively. It turned itself into the shape of Sarah Connor, but John was not fooled.

After a lengthy battle against Sarah Connor and the T-800, the T-1000 is knocked into a pit of molten steel by a grenade fired from a M79 grenade launcher held by the T-800. This marked the end of the conflict, and the victory of the Resistance.

Aftermath[]

John throws in the arm and CPU they found at the Cyberdyne Building. The T-800 sacrificed itself because it said that it was "another chip."
