An "alternate original timeline" refers to a timeline where Judgment Day is postponed from 1997 to a later year due to temporal interventions caused by time travelling mission(s). Since Judgment Day cannot be prevented but only delayed, there will be still a War Against the Machines in the future after the nuclear war. In such alternate timeline, Skynet still sends Infiltrator to the present day from the future, just like its counterpart did in the Original timeline. Likewise, Resistance also send soldiers or reprogrammed Terminators as a counter measure.
Examples[edit | edit source]
In Rise of the Machines timeline, the T-850 came from an alternate future, created by the destruction of Cyberdyne Building, where Judgment Day happened in 2004 and John Connor was killed in 2032. While in Kyla's World, Judgment Day happened in 2003 and the T-850 was sent from 2029, where John Connor was still fighting against Skynet.
In The New John Connor Chronicles timeline, Jade's World is the alternate original timeline to John's World. In Jade's World, due to the destruction of Cyberdyne Building, Judgment Day was postponed to 2021.
In Dark Fate timeline, Grace Harper and Rev-9 came from an alternate original timeline where Skynet ceased to exist due to destruction of Cyberdyne Building. However, in this timeline, Judgment Day was caused by another malicious AI known as the Legion.
