Rio Grande National Forest-Haven Base[]
Lt. Church was assigned under Major Chris Stevens in T-Patrol, 10 years after Judgement Day, where their mission took them to the Rio Grande National Forest in Colorado. Their primary objective was to perform light recon on enemy movements and not to engage unless absolutely necessary. While on recon duty however, Legion units were spotted, heading for the direction of the Founders. As a result, Church gave the order to prepare for combat. They engaged several light units, but learned of standard Legion transports approaching near their position. Against orders, Church began a rescue mission upon learning that the transports approaching them were carrying prisoners, which was odd for Legion. Church strategized a two prong attack, one team would engage and distract the escort, while the other disabled the transports to free the prisoners. Once the operation was successful, the prisoners were freed, but in rough shape, leading to Church to contact any nearby medics in the field. Doc Hughes was the closest and needed protection as he ventured toward Church's position. Church and his troops provided the necessary protection to Doc and was tending to them, however reinforcements arrived. Sgt. Mason told Church to retreat, but Alex didn't want the prisoners recaptured by Legion. With little choice, they began evacuating prisoners into vehicles, while also covering their escape, planning to take them to a base in Haven, but Sgt. Lazlo's position was overrun.
Following their run-in with Legion and evacuating the prisoners, T-Patrol returned to Haven Base, requesting aid for the prisoners. Initially, Capt. Blair denied this, however Maj. Stevens ordered Blair to give them entry. Unknowingly however, Legion tracked T-Patrol's route to the base, leading Church and his squad to take up an advanced defense platform for protecting the base. The perimeter defenses unleashed a barrage of plasma and conventional fire on incoming Legion troops. While Legion began its attack, Church explained to Maj. Stevens that Legion had taken prisoners, which even Stevens found to be strange, especially since Legion was hell-bent on humanity's extinction. As the fight raged on, Watch-9 in a nearby cave had reported the body of water inside the cave was boiling, leading to them being ambushed by Legion forces. Legion attempted to dig through the nearby caverns to flank the base, however, Blair ordered Church to engage the forces there, as well as setting up mines. Legion had begun sending HK Tanks in from the caverns and at the front perimeter, causing the security of the base to be compromised. Blair would then blame Church for dereliction of duty and wanted him placed under arrest. Stevens denied this, needing everyone to work together against Legion's threat. Not long after, seismic activity was reported on the bay side of the base and Stevens declared the base compromised. Church is then ordered by Stevens to hold the line as they evacuated. As they defended the base, Recon-4 arrived and Church was given base command by Stevens. Not long after, seismic activity was coming in from all directions, leading to them abandoning the forward post and lure Legion forces into the center, then engage them. As the base held its own, Legion blew a hole into the cliffside, giving them access to the living quarters and the base itself, leading them to prepare for the last evac transports. Church was then ordered by Stevens to leave him behind and report Legion's interest in prisoners. They managed to activate the base's self-destruct before abandoning it, taking any Legion forces inside with it.
Abiquiu-Santa Fe Outskirts[]
Following the loss of Haven base, Sgt. Mason recommended they put as much distance between themselves and the base. On the way, they meet up with survivors, trying to flee to the North, avoiding the machines. Church explained that the north was just as dangerous as the south, leading to the survivors offering their aid in joining the Founders. They mentioned to Church about a town called Abiquiu in New Mexico, which was located not far from there, however before sending in their entire force, they sent in a recon team to scope out the settlement, while meeting Whichowsky Sr. and Jr. on the way, learning about a man named Balzano. On the way, they encounter Mak, a member of the Movement, aiding them against Legion forces.
