With Dark Fate’s flop at the box office, are producers going to green light another terminator film? This film was yet another attempt to formulate a legitimate sequel to the masterpiece of the franchise: T2. However, it seems like every attempt to continue the mythology is met with lack luster response. Why is that? While I could point to problems with Dark Fate, the point is that I can do that because I bothered to see it. That being said, I wasn’t disappointed by it. The special effects were up to par for a Terminator film. The return of both Hamilton and Schwarzenegger embodying the franchises’ two most iconic character’s legitimized the character aesthetic. And most importantly, the theme of the chase and fight for survival. The dialogue often suffered but the dialogue suffers in every Terminator film, including the first two. This is one of the most influential and relevant science fiction franchises ever, so what’s happening in our culture right now that doesn’t even acknowledge it as a contender?
